University

‘Choose your subject carefully and be organised.’ ‘On a practical level, find out how many lectures a week you will have to attend plus extra work on top of that.’ ‘Plan out a work time table.’ ‘Tell your lecturers, personal tutor, Department and Year heads about the situation.’ ‘Remember, always ask these people for help if you need it.’ Think carefully about the practicalities of university life, and what assistance you are likely to need. Some Halls of Residence have special rooms for people with disabilities, which may be more suitable. The University may have a society for students with disabilities. Many students now choose a university close to home and don’t travel away.
