‘Furry therapists’ are great companions and pets are known to reduce stress (as long as you are not allergic to them). One person with M.E. likes to break the good news to her dog when it is time for him to be fed or taken for a walk. A friend may be able to bring their animal to visit you, or you could perhaps have a ‘part time pet’ – looking after an animal when its family are away or at work. Cats take less energy to look after than dogs.
